Encore des croquis de Sherbrooke - More Sketches From Sherbrooke

D'autres dessins de la ville de Sherbrooke. Chaque croquis est fait à la plume (Sakura Micron) et ensuite colorié à l'aquarelle. Environ vingt minutes par croquis, de format 4 par 6 pouces.
More drawings from Sherbrooke in the province of Québec. Each sketch is done with an ink pen (Sakura Micron) and then coloured with watercolour. About twenty minutes each sketch, measuring approx. 4 x 6 inches.

20 minutes per sketch!? Impressive! They look like that they would take much longer to draw/paint!

Thanks Amanda :-) Yes, the twenty minutes per sketch is sort of a self-imposed time constraint... otherwise I spend to much time on the sketch and it becomes too much like a finished illustration. I usually start with my «7-pencil-lines-sketch» : four to frame the view, one for the horizon line, one for the major vertical and the last for a diagonal or perspective line. Then I start drawing with the ink pen for about ten minutes and I finish with the colours. I do allow myself to cheat sometimes :-) by using the full twenty minutes for te ink drawing and then I apply the colours later from memory, ex: the Statue sketch

Hmm, I'm not so brave to follow your 7-pencil-lines-sketch. Yet. :) Absolutely love your landscape drawing/painting. Keep the good work!
